Brockville – A Brockville Police officer was assaulted after responding to a residence on Dales Ave. in the city for a mother and daughter altercation.
Police say around 2:00 pm on November 4th they responded to the residence and located the 35-year-old, daughter. According to police, the woman was very emotional and attempted to cause self-harm, by tying the cord of a lamp around her neck.
“Officers then attempted to help her by apprehending her, preventing any harm and getting her connected to services for assistance. While that was happening, the female swung the lamp, striking one of the officers in the face.” said police.
The officer received non-life-threatening injuries said police.
The woman was arrested and charged with assaulting the officer with a weapon and failing to comply with her probation.
Police she was released with a future court date and taken to the Brockville General Hospital and connected with services.
