Brockville – The Brockville Braves won one and lost one over the weekend in CCHL action.
Friday night the Braves hosted Pembroke losing to the Lumber Kings 6-3 at the Memorial Centre. On Sunday they won a 5-4 decision over the Nepean Raiders in Nepean.
On Friday night the Braves’ Kellen Dostaler with his 11th and Kimani Eccleston with his 9th put Brockville up 2-1 in the first period.
The Pembroke Lumber Kings scored two in the middle frame before Ben Albright, with his 6th, brought the Braves within one, midway through the third period.
But it was all Pembroke from there on out. Brockville only mustered 10 shots total in the second and third periods.
In Sunday’s game against the Nepean Raiders, the Braves won 5-4. Ryan McNally scored a hattrick finishing it off with the game winner with 32 seconds left.
The game went much like Brockville’s season leading up to it. A series of peaks and valleys. The Braves entered into a valley at the start of the game as they went down 2 – 0. They started back up the incline when McNally scored 7 seconds left in the first.
Peter Legostaev boosted that climb with a goal with little more than a minute into the second. The Braves peaked again mid-frame with goals by Ryan McNally and Brandon Palusczak to take a commanding two-goal lead, 4-2.
Brockville peered into the depths of depression when Tristan Konobejl scored for Nepean to open the third and Peter Freel capitalized on a “member’s bounce/charity hop” type of shot that escaped from Braves’ goalie Trey Caracciola’s glove and tied it up.
Then the “DramaMan”, Ryan McNally converted passes from Kayden Buller and Eccleston into the game-winner with only 32 seconds left on the clock.
The Braves will host the Renfrew Wolves this Friday night at the Memorial Centre. Game time is 7:30 pm.
