Fenelon Falls – The Westport Lumberjacks won a 6-4 decision over the Lindsay Barncats on Saturday in Eastern Ontario Super Hockey League (EOSHL) action in Fenelon Falls.
Westport’s Maverick Labrie (Logan Collette, Jake Mcarthur) scored the first goal for the Lumberjacks in the first period, followed by a goal by Jayden Boyer (Jake Mcarthur, Logan Collette) to give Westport a 2-0 lead.
Lindsay would respond with goals by Mitch Bennett (Kevin George, Brad Smulders) and Cameron Lamport (Dakota Betts, Dylan Scriver) to tie the game at 2-2 at the end of the period.
The Lumberjacks would take the lead again in the second on a goal from Michael Anson (Devon Burns, Matt Halle) his second of the game and then the Barncats scored another by Cameron Robinson (Brad Smulders, Dakota Betts) to tie it up again at 3-3. Michael Anson (Dawson Fawcett, Elliott Belzile)would pick up one in the second to give Westport the lead once again at the end of the second period.
Westport would go on to score two more in the third on goals by Matt Halle (Devon Burns, Elliott Belzile) and Michael Anson, his third of the game to give the Lumberjacks a 6-3 lead.
Lindsay would score one more in the third but it wasn’t enough.
The Lumberjacks will host the Gananoque Islanders this Saturday at the Westport Community Centre. The puck drops at 5:00 pm.
