Gananoque Islanders Downed Westport Lumberjacks 6-4 Saturday in EOSHL Action

Westport – The Gananoque Islanders won a 6-4 decision over the Westport Lumberjacks on Saturday in EOSHL action in Westport.

The Lumberjacks outshot the Islanders 51 to 41 during the game.

Ryan Pawlikowski with help from Ryan Verbeek scored the first goal for Gananoque in the first period. Westport’s Ty Norman (Garry Smith) would score the first goal for the Lumberjacks in the second period.

The Islanders would pick up three more on goals from Aaron Duggan (Kris Johnson, #16 Colin Brown), Warren Marcotte (Ryan Verbeek, Ryan Pawlikowski) and Cole Busschaert (Duane Wainman, Mason Mangan) in the second to take a 4-1 lead.

The Lumberjacks would pick up two more on goals by Maverick Labrie (Kylan Tavares, Kohle Mcculloch) and Devon Burns (Andrew Dekroon, Lucas Logie) to make it 4-3 Islanders at the end of the second period.

In the third, Aidan Harris would make it 5-3 for Gananoque and then Westport’s Maverick Labrie (Mackenzie Turnbull, Michael Anson) scored the final goal for the Lumberjacks in the third.

Duane Wainman (Chad Duchesne, Graeme Brown) would score one more for the Islanders to give them the 6-4 win.

Gananoque will host the Tweed Oil Kings Friday night at the Lou Jefferies starting at 7:30 pm.

The Lumberjacks will host the Lindsay Barncats on Saturday in Westport. The puck drops at 3:00 pm.
