Gananoque – Police reports from the Gananoque Police Service from November 1st to 16th, 2024.

Two Counts of Assault:

On November 1st, 2024, officers received a report of two assaults that occurred at a residence involving two separate victims.

As a result, a 12-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault.

They were released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

Bench Warrant/Domestic Assault/Theft:

On September 6th, 2024, a bench warrant was issued for a 40-year-old person with no fixed address who had failed to attend court as required for their previous charges of Obtaining by false pretence x3.

On September 8th, 2024, officers received a report of a domestic assault that occurred on August 25th. The victim reported the accused had brandished a large machete-type knife at them, and then physically assaulted them, causing injuries. As a result, a warrant was sought for Assault – spousal, Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Theft Over
$5000.

On November 1st, 2024, officers were notified by a neighbouring agency that the 40-year-old person had been located and arrested on two outstanding warrants. The accused was also identified as the perpetrator in a package theft occurrence from August 26th, and a fraudulent e-transfer purchase on August 11th resulting in three more charges of Theft under $5000 x2 and Obtaining by false pretence. The Accused was held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

Suspended Driver Facing Flight From Police/Dangerous Operation Charges:

On November 2nd, 2024, in the early morning hours, the Gananoque Police Service was notified of a motorcycle speeding and driving erratically. An officer on patrol observed the vehicle driving at a high rate of speed and in an unsafe manner.

Police attempted a traffic stop and upon realizing that the motorcycle was not going to stop, the officer disengaged. The driver of the motorcycle lost control while attempting to make a turn, skidding across the roadway.

The 30-year-old person from Kingston was arrested and charged with Flight from a peace officer and Dangerous operation. They were also found to be a suspended driver. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing, and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Stolen Vehicle:

On November 3rd, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a person attempting to break into a vehicle. The caller was able to provide a vehicle description and direction of travel for the suspect. Officers responded and located two persons, one in the driver’s seat of a reported stolen vehicle and the other who had broken into another vehicle.

They were placed under arrest and transported back to the station. As a result, a 17-year-old person from Finch was charged with Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 x2, Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Mischief Under $5,000, Breach of Recognizance x2, and a 15-year-old person from Cornwall was charged with Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000, Possession property obtained by crime over
$5,000, Mischief Under $5,000, Fail to comply with sentence x2, Failure to comply with an undertaking. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

Outstanding Warrant:

On November 4th, 2024, officers were notified of a person who had attended the station regarding another matter and had an outstanding warrant with the service. The 48-year-old person from Seeleys Bay was arrested, and found to have drugs on them.

As a result, in addition to the three previous charges of Possession of a Schedule I substance, they received two more counts of Possession of a Schedule I substance. Due to the drug possession, the person was also breaching their Conditional Sentence Order. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

Warrant/Uttering Threats/Obstruct Justice:

On November 9th, 2024, officers conducting community patrol were speaking with a pedestrian, when a person known to have active warrants attended to join the pedestrian.

Officers confirmed their active warrant and placed a 34-year-old person from Tumbler Ridge, BC under arrest. While they were being placed under arrest, the second person – a 32-year-old person from Tumbler Ridge, BC was arrested for Utter threats and Obstruct justice.

The 34-year-old accused was charged with Failure to comply with probation and released on an appearance notice. The 32-year-old accused was released unconditionally.

Failure to Comply:

On November 14th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of two youths who had left their group home without permission, which was in breach of their conditions.

One youth was located shortly after and arrested. The 14-year-old youth from Gananoque was charged with two counts of Failure to comply with the release order. They were held for a show cause bail hearing.

You Charged with Assault & Failure to Comply:

On November 16th, 2024, officers responded to an assault on a youth. The suspect had fled but later returned to the residence where they were arrested and transported to the station.

The 14-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with Assault, and Failure to comply with the release order. They were held for a show cause bail hearing.
