Prescott – The South Grenville Junior Rangers lost 4-3 in overtime to the Almonte Inferno on Friday night in NCJHL action in Prescott.
The Jr. Rangers got on the board first with goals by Ben Pilon (Garrett Grandia, Mason Held) and Nicholas Campeau (Noah Penney) in the first period. Almonte’s Justin Greene “C” (Ty Moore, Jordan van Vliet) would score one in the first for the Inferno. South Grenville led 2-1 at the end of the period.
Eric “AP” Chellew (Ben Pilon, Matteo Dixon) would score one more for the Jr. Rangers in the second period to make it 3-1 South Grenville.
In the third period, it was all Almonte, with two goals by Charlie Huibers (Anthony Fiorenza, Louis Tumber) and Ramsey Stretch (Ty Moore, Justin Greene “C”) to force the game to overtime.
The Inferno’s Isaac Halpenny (Justin Greene “C”, Wayland Thompson) would score the overtime-winning goal.
The South Grenville Junior Rangers will travel to Morrisburg Saturday night to play the Lions. Game time is 7:30 pm.
