Brockville – At its Tuesday meeting, the City’s planning and development committee recommended that the city council approve the new Stirling Meadows subdivision, which will create 403 new residential units in the city’s north end.

City council will vote on the recommendation at their next regular council meeting next Tuesday, December 10th.

The large development will see a total of 403 residential units to be built on the east side of Windsor Drive, south of Centennial Road, west of Bridlewood Subdivision and north of Duke Street. The lands are currently under construction through a Pre-servicing Agreement with streets and servicing.

It will feature the development of 175 blocks to accommodate 74 single detached dwellings, 120 semi-detached dwellings, 105 townhouse dwellings, 54 back-to-back townhouse dwellings, and a 50-unit apartment building, associated easements, road widening requirements and nine new streets.

Construction started on a pre-servicing agreement. Most services and roads are installed and now are ready to have building permits issued. For that to happen council must give final approval for the planned subdivision, Stirling Meadows.

During the committee meeting, Brockville Mayor Wren said “Just like to say how exciting it is this is moving forward, that houses are actually going to be built and a project that both the developer and the city worked very hard at. It does demonstrate to the public though that these are complex projects, they do take time and this goes back to the last term of council when this all began, so we see how long it takes to make things happen.”

“Very pleased to see this developer investing in Brockville and pleased to see more housing coming to our community.” continued Mayor Wren

The nine new streets already approved by council, are Briggs Terrace, Crag Crescent, an extension of Dobbie Street, an extension of Fitzsimons Drive, Jackson Circle, and Moore Cres. Potter Drive, Roger Cres. and Turner Drive.

In the staff report, it said that the developer Juliada Holdings Inc. has indicated that it’s ready to proceed with the development of the Subdivision after final approval.
