Brockville – Brockville Police investigated two cases of intimate partner violence on December 7th and 9th in the city.
Police say on December 7, 2024, at about 11:00 pm, they received information regarding allegations of domestic-related violence between ex-partners, of which there were previous allegations currently being investigated.
The report involved a 30-year-old, male and a female, who were previously in a relationship. Police were investigating an incident that took place on October 22, 2024, where it was reported that the male subject had purposely caused a collision with the female. On that date at about 9:00 pm, the female victim was driving on Stewart Blvd. when she was struck by the male who was also driving in that area. The male subject fled after the collision and there was significant damage caused to the victim’s vehicle. Luckily, she was not injured.
On the next reported date of December 7, 2024, the female was driving in the area of Blockhouse Island, when the male subject again was in the same area. This time, he swerved at her attempting to cause another collision, however, was unsuccessful. Officers attended the area and located the male subject nearby. He was placed under arrest for his actions. Once the investigation was complete on both incidents, he was charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of failure to comply with probation, failure to stop after an accident and mischief over $5,000.00. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
On December 9, 2024, at about 7:00 am, police received a 911 call regarding a domestic dispute that was currently taking place. Officers attended the residence on Perth St. and the investigation revealed that a female and her 17-year-old, boyfriend engaged in an argument over concerns in their relationship. During the argument, the male subject took possession of the female’s phone as he was upset over a text conversation.
The male would not give the phone back, and when the female attempted to retrieve it, he shoved her on the bed and spit in her face. Shouting and insults continued where it became physical, as the male spit on her again, resulting in them trading slaps to their face. As the female attempted to leave the room, the male blocked her from doing so. Then it became physical and a struggle ensued to both get out of the room and retrieve her phone. Once she became free, the police were notified. the injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
As a result, the 17-year-old, male was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and two counts of forcible confinement. The male was released on an undertaking with conditions and a future court date to answer the charges.
