Kingston – Six healthcare organizations have launched a new health information system to provide secure, shared electronic medical records, with timely access to test results, health histories and appointments for 650,000 people across southeastern Ontario.
The system, called Lumeo, was developed by six partners with a total of 33 healthcare sites:
- Brockville General Hospital
- Kingston Health Sciences Centre – Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu sites
- Lennox and Addington County General Hospital
- Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital – Perth and Smiths Falls locations
- Providence Care including Providence Care Hospital, Providence Transitional Care Centre, Providence Manor, and over 20 community sites across the region
- Quinte Health – Belleville General Hospital, North Hastings Hospital, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and Trenton Memorial Hospital
Lumeo provides many benefits to the people we serve including:
- Secure, shared access to electronic medical records across six partner organizations
- Timely access to results, appointments, and health histories
- A HealtheLife patient portal (launching mid-2025)
“This is a historic moment,” says Lumeo Regional VP Leon Goonaratne. “The launch of this new system has been years in the making, with our teams dedicating years to training and preparation. Now, they are adapting to new ways of working together and supporting one another, while continuing to deliver patient care in our communities. Their hard work, dedication, and resilience are truly commendable.”
We ask that visitors to our sites across southeastern Ontario be patient with front-line healthcare providers who are working with this new system. Please note that emergency services remain unchanged, and there are also community health services available for people with non-urgent issues who do not require a level of care provided by an Emergency Department.

“We are incredibly proud of our staff and partners for turning this vision into reality for those we serve,” says Goonaratne. “We would also like to thank our communities for their support and patience as we improve health care for our region.”
