Brockville – The first-time event, ‘Novemburger’ held throughout November in Leeds & Grenville saw $3,326 raised for the United Way of Leeds-Grenville social services agencies.
A total of $9,098 was raised including sponsorship and the sale of the Novemburgers, with $3,326 raised money.
For the month of November – participating Novemburger restaurants brought together the power of food, and the power of giving back, by selling a unique burger creation and allocating $2 from every burger sold to United Way Leeds & Grenville.
On Tuesday, December 17th the United Way celebrated 2024’s TOP NOVEMBURGER: Karra’s Burgers & Fries Brockville with fellow participants, sponsors and ambassadors as they announced the total money raised and the restaurant with the most burgers sold at the touchdown of Novemburger.
“Although initially skeptical of how this event would do in our community because of similar events running in the past, the importance of this event was reinforced multiple times throughout. Ultimately, our results are very similar to the event done by Thunder Bay in their first year, 2019, a city similar in size to Leeds & Grenville. If we bring it back in 2025 I look forward to amping up the momentum with engaging partnerships I’ve made with local Economic Development and Chamber of Commerce leaders because Thunder Bay has shown us what is possible by bringing in $132,000 this year!” said Melissa Hindman, Director, Resource Development at the United Way of Leeds-Grenville
The Top Novemburger went to Karra’s Burgers & Fries in Brockville who also won the People’s Choice for Novemburger.
- 1st Karra’s Burgers & Fries,
- 2nd Stoodley’s Kitchen and Beverage,
- 3rd Fat Les’s on King St
The most Novemburgers sold also went to Kara’s with the sale of 383 burgers.
“Thank you for the generosity of our sponsors who made this event possible: Henderson Digital Marketing & Printing, Bounce FM, Move FM, Hometown TV12 and O’Farrell Wealth & Estate Planning | Assante Capital Management Ltd. Your support and participation in our events move us toward our goal of raising $980,000 to support critical social infrastructure in our community. Thank you!” said the United Way of Leeds-Grenville.
Also, the United Way would like to thank the three ambassadors, Janica Roberts from Great Waterway Hearing, Doreen Barnes from Yourtv Brockville and Chad Noonan from Beattie Film.
