Gananoque – The Gananoque Islanders won one and lost one last weekend in EOSHL action.
On Saturday, December 28th they won a 4-3 decision over the Frontenac Phantoms, while on Sunday, they lost 13 to 1 to the Lindsay Barncats.
In the Saturday game in Frontenac, the Islanders scored the first goal by #5 Braedon Oatway (#2 Kris Johnson, #72 Cody Smith) in the first period. Frontenac would then score one, followed by another goal for Gan from #61 Ryan Verbeek (#13 Justynn Steven, #19 Ben Blasko).
The Phantoms would score one more in the first to tie the game at 2-2 at the end of the period.
The lone goal in the second period was by #61 Ryan Verbeek (#13 Justynn Steven, #6 Luke Donovan) to give the Islanders the lead.
In the third, Gananoque’s #18 Matt Donovan (#72 Cody Smith, #16 Colin Brown) would score a goal to give the Islanders a 4-2 lead.
Frontenac would score one kore in the third but it was not enough.
On Sunday, December 29th the Islanders were in Lindsay playing the Barncats where they came away with a 13-1 loss.
Scoring the lone Gananoque goal was #11 Mason Mangan (#77 Duane Wainman, #14 Aaron Duggan) in the first period. The Barncats outshot the Islanders 87 to 19 during the game.
Gananoque is off until January 10th when they will host the Frontenac Phantoms at the Lou Jeffries.
