Brockville – The Brockville Braves won 5-1 over the Navan Grads on Friday night, while on Saturday they lost 4-1 to the Hawkesbury Hawks in CCHL action.
This Friday night at the Memorial Centre the Braves host the Cornwall Colts starting at 7:30 pm.
Brockville Braves 5 – Navan Grads 1 – Friday Night:
On Friday’s trade deadline day, the Brockville Braves turned in perhaps their strongest performance of the year, dominating the Navan Grads while outshooting them 47 – 21.
In a textbook perfect scenario, the Braves’ best players were their best players, and it showed. Up and down the lineup, the Braves managed to keep most of the play in the Grad’s end and held them to a measly 21 shots.

Some say the tank was empty! I say we refuelled with the wrong grade!
The high-octane offence exhibited on Friday didn’t make the road trip on Saturday. Regular-grade fuel just doesn’t cut it.
Despite the less-than-stellar team’s performance on Saturday in Hawkesbury, the Braves were in this game well past the midway mark of the 3rd period. Grady Spicer’s opening goal in the 1st period kept Brockville within 1.
Now I wasn’t at the game, but watching on Flohockey. It appeared as though an innocent enough zone exit by the Braves, saw the puck impeded (hit the linesman?).
Two late-exiting Hawks players were able to convert this to a breakaway. Chan-Miguel’s shot hit Gerlich’s glove but ended up in the net. This appeared to deflate the Braves and a Hawk’s empty-netter sealed the deal.
It was a complete reversal of Friday’s tale of the tape (shots on goal). In this game we were outshot 49 – 28.
