Impaired Driver Arrested After Fleeing from Collision

Brockville – A 72-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving after causing a collision and then fleeing the scene of the collision,

Brockville Police say that on January 23, 2025, around 8:00 pm, they received 911 calls regarding a motor vehicle collision that took place on Parkedale Ave., just West of Millwood Ave in the city.

Police found out that a vehicle was pulling out of the parking lot of a restaurant in the area, where it collided with two vehicles. The suspect vehicle then fled from the scene of the collision.

The suspect vehicle was located in the parking lot of the 1000 Islands Mall, and the 72-year-old, male, driver, was identified as found attempting to hide in one of the businesses at that location.

Officers spoke to the man and learned that he had been consuming alcohol and a roadside breath test was administered. This test resulted in a failure.

The subject was placed under arrest and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. This test confirmed that the man was impaired and operating over the legal limit.

The subject’s driver’s licence was suspended, the vehicle impounded and charged with operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg and failure to stop after the collision.

He was released with a future court date.
