Changes to Three Bus Stops for Blue & Evening Routes Also!

Brockville – Starting tomorrow, Monday, February 10th the City of Brockville will begin the Rehabilitation Project for the William Street Overpass the work on the overpass is expected to continue until September 2025.
All four lanes of the overpass will be closed from Eleanor Street to Brock Street. There will be a detour from Front Ave, to Perth to Brock Street.
“There’s no other way to say it, we have some inconvenience ahead of us for a few months as the William Street Overpass is rehabilitated. As the City has been announcing over the past few weeks, William Street will be fully closed as of Monday, February 10 until September from Brock Street to Eleanor Street,” said Brockville Mayor Matt Wren.
The Mayor stated that while the main detour will be on Perth Street, he wants to urge residents to consider taking Park Street, Ormond Street or North Augusta Road (the city’s second overpass) where possible.
“A bit of extra planning might save you some stress in getting around the City.” said the Mayor
The city said that in 2024, a project was awarded for the rehabilitation of the William Street/CN overpass. The project will require an estimated 30-week closure of all lanes on the William Street overpass, including both northbound and southbound lanes, from Eleanor Street to Brock Street.
“Staff have been working closely with CN Rail and I have written to our CN representative with a request to meet and discuss reducing the instances of freight trains coming to a full stop and blocking level crossings,” added Mayor Wren
This is a major $3 million construction project that involves significant municipal investment with assistance from the federal and provincial governments covering approximately $1.7 million.
“While we understand that this may cause some inconvenience, this closure is essential for much-needed repairs and improvements. There is no way around this one and your patience is appreciated.” said the city.” said the Mayor
As well there will be changes to the Brockville Transit Blue and Evening routes due to the construction with the relocation of three bus stops.
