The camp is open to young women between the ages of 15-18 years old and is free of charge for participants. Over three days the participants will have hands-on training in skills they’d face as firefighters.
Learning and experiencing practical, leadership and teamwork skills in a safe environment, experiencing fire rescue scenarios and exploring opportunities for future growth.
The goals of this camp are to inspire young women to consider a career in the fire service but more importantly to be empowered, to have the confidence to believe they can achieve any goal they set their minds to.
Last year for the first year the camp was held, the first of its kind in Brockville. Fire Chief Melanie Jones ran a similar camp when she was with the Kingston Fire & Rescue.
