CDSBEO Board Meeting Highlights – Tuesday, February 18, 2025

Kemptville – Here are the meeting highlights for the CDSBEO’s board meeting held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.

2025-2026 School Year Calendar:

Each year school boards in Ontario are required to submit their school year calendars to the Ministry of Education on or before March 1st. The Ministry provides guidelines to school boards for developing school year calendars, and Regulation 304 outlines the requirements for preparation and submission to the Ministry of Education.

Superintendent of School Effectiveness Dawn Finnegan presented the proposed school year calendar for 2025-2026 to the Board of Trustees. The proposed calendar was developed with special consideration given to serving the best interests of students, and through a consultation process which collected feedback from parents, staff, and other stakeholders.

The proposed calendar was circulated through the CDSBEO website and social media channels, and feedback was collected through an online survey.

Chair Cummings noted that the consultation process was thorough and provided many stakeholders and community partners with an opportunity to share their input. The final proposed 2025-2026 School Year Calendar was approved by the Board of Trustees.

Religion & Family Life Education Department Update:

On February 18, 2025, the Religion and Family Life Education Department presented updates on K-9 Religion programs to the Board of Trustees. The presentation highlighted the “Growing in Faith, Growing in Christ” curriculum, which integrates faith into daily learning and aligns with the liturgical year.

The new Family Life Education curriculum, “Blessed and Beloved,” emphasizes understanding the Catholic perspective on family and human dignity. The presentation showcased teacher and student resources, digital access, and parish involvement. Notable features include interactive e-resources, family engagement tools, and support for educators.
