Brockville – On February 23, 2025, at about 1:30 am, police received a 911 call to attend the area of Stewart Blvd., regarding a report of two people involved in a fight. Officers arrived and ensured the involved parties were separated.
Investigation revealed that multiple people were travelling from Montreal to Toronto, as part of a rideshare. During the travels, a 28-year-old, male passenger, became belligerent towards the driver. The vehicle stopped in Brockville to remove the subject, which resulted in the altercation becoming physical. The subject assaulted the driver by striking him and attended a nearby gas station with the driver’s bag. The driver received minor injuries.
The subject was located and the property was retrieved. The subject was making discriminatory comments towards one of the officers and slapped the officer in the face with his passport. The male was placed under arrest and was resistant. Once searched, it was found that the male was in possession of a quantity of fentanyl and was also on probation with conditions.
He was taken to the Brockville Police Service to remain in custody. While there, he purposely urinated through the cell block area. The driver who was assaulted did not wish to pursue charges, however, the subject was held for bail for the offences of assaulting a peace officer, mischief under $5,000, possession of fentanyl and failure to comply with probation.
