Brockville – March is Nutrition Month and this year’s theme is Nourish to Flourish. The dietitians at the South East Health Unit (formerly Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit) are exploring the ways food can nourish not just our bodies, but also our minds, emotions and overall wellbeing.
The role of food and the benefits of healthy eating extends far beyond physical health, performance and disease prevention; it is central to fostering good mental health, emotional well-being and social and cultural connections. Over the next month, we will be celebrating the integral role nutrition has on our psychological well-being, mental health, social and cultural connections and emotional resilience.
Dietitians are at the heart of this work. Our registered dietitians are rolling out a variety of resources that emphasize the many connections between food, health and wellbeing. We’ll also be highlighting our Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds approach, which shifts the focus from weight and size to overall health by promoting balanced eating, regular physical activity and mental wellbeing for everyone.
We encourage residents and community partners to engage with our social media posts, listen to our media interviews and visit our website for credible, up-to-date nutrition information.
