Brockville – Three people are facing robbery and assault charges after a standoff in the City’s south end Thursday.
City police say around 11:00 am, on Thursday, March 20th Brockville Police Service responded to a complaint that a female had been assaulted with a baseball bat and had personal items taken while at an address on Buell Street.
Responding officers arrived and contained the area as the accused parties were still believed to be inside the residence. Buell Street was closed from Pearl Street to James Street for most of the day.
Police said the female victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
Members of the Brockville Police Service Emergency Response Team attempted to negotiate the safe surrender of the suspects for several hours, without success. The Ontario Provincial Police Tactics and Rescue Unit was called in and at approximately 9:30 pm, all involved parties were taken into custody without further incident, according to police.
Police investigators believe this was a targeted incident and as a result, there is not believed to be any further risk to public safety.
A 43-year-old man, 36-year-old man, and 32-year-old woman, all of Brockville, have been charged in relation to the incident.
All three parties were held in custody pending a bail hearing. The allegations have not been proven in Court.
