Brockville – On Friday, local MPP Steve Clark met with the team at Senior Support Services – CPHC to hear more about the $52,900 Capital Grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) that was used to put in a walk-in freezer for their Meals on Wheels program. This project will be a tremendous asset, addressing the challenges we previously faced concerning meal inventory capacity, timing of deliveries to rural and remote areas, etc.
“I’m pleased the Ontario Trillium Foundation is supporting the invaluable work of Seniors Support Services–CPHC and its Meals on Wheels program through a $52,900 capital grant to purchase a new walk-in freezer,” said Steve Clark, MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes. “Meals on Wheels is a vital program to assist seniors, particularly those in remote and rural areas, to remain in their homes longer. I’m proud this grant will enhance the ability of staff and volunteers to deliver nutritious meals to those who rely on them.”
Awarded in June 2024, the grant has been instrumental in supporting the growth of our Meals on Wheels program by funding the construction of a modern walk-in freezer, significantly improving the organization’s capacity to store inventory and ensure the timely delivery of nutritious meals to seniors in our community. This investment will help us better serve those in need and increase operational efficiency, allowing us to continue providing reliable and consistent service to our clients.
“Receiving this grant to build a freezer is a valuable opportunity for our organization.” Said Tina Montgomery, Executive Director. “With the added freezer space, we’ll be able to ensure we have more resources on hand allowing us to better meet the needs of the seniors in our community.”
