Brockville City Council Highlights from Tuesday, March 25th Council Meeting

Brockville – Here are some highlights from last Tuesday’s, March 25th, council meeting.

Canada Preferred Procurement

In line with many other municipalities across the province, City Council chose to amend its Procurement Policy to prioritize Canadian spending, when possible and when certain criteria apply. This decision is in response to recently imposed tariffs on Canadian products by the United States government.

Council noted an understanding of the importance of supporting the Canadian economy and communities from coast to coast. The purpose of Canada Preferred Procurement is to outline how the City can support Canadian suppliers, manufacturers and producers, while still maintaining compliance with trade agreements and remaining within the approved annual budgets.

Brockville Museum 2024 Annual Report

The Brockville Museum preserves and utilizes an evolving collection of objects and stories representing Brockville’s past and present to provide inspiring, inclusive, and collaborative experiences that enhance well-being and strengthen the community’s social and human capital in the service of Brockville’s future.

Earlier this month, Natalie Wood, Curator, presented an annual report of the Brockville Museum to the General Committee reviewing finances, governance, collections, exhibits and other elements.

The Brockville Museum is currently preparing a new five-year strategic plan (2025-2030) and is seeking community feedback at engagebrockville.com.
