Brockville – The Brockville Fire Department reports that they responded to numerous calls about a fire in the attached garage of a single-family home on Fairway Crescent in the city’s downtown west end.
They say around 2:40 pm on Wednesday, they received the report of the fire. When they arrived on the scene, they say they
encountered a fully involved garage with smoke throughout the home.
The occupants of the home reported smelling something burning and, upon investigation, found heavy smoke in the garage and fire inside the car prior to exiting the building and calling 9-1-1.
Firefighters say they worked hard to contain the fire to the garage with minor fire damage extending into the adjacent kitchen.
The fire was declared under control at 3:57 pm. No injuries were reported. The fire is still under investigation, according to the Brockville Fire Department..
The fire department wants residents to remember to test their smoke and CO alarms and to ensure they have a home fire escape plan.
