Gananoque – Police reports from the Gananoque Police Service from February 2nd to March 23rd, 2025.

Failure to Comply/Obstructing Police:

On February 2nd, 2025, officers on patrol observed a person outside in extreme weather conditions. When officers offered aid, the person provided false information to officers and was evasive. It was quickly determined that the person was breaching their release order.

The 38-year-old person from Kingston was arrested and charged with Obstructing a peace officer and two counts of Failure to comply with a release order. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

Assault & Breach:

On February 8th, 2025, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call of an assault that had just occurred. Officers spoke to both parties present, who had gotten into a verbal argument before the accused punched the victim in the head, resulting in injuries.

As such, a 44-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Assault and Breach of recognizance. They were released on an appearance notice.

Mischief Over $5000:

On February 22nd, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received multiple reports of loud noises and possible damage to an apartment unit that occurred throughout the previous night.

Damage to the residence was extensive, approximating $18,000. As a result, a 46-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Mischief over $5000. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.

Failure to Comply:

On March 3rd, 2025, officers on patrol observed two people who were known to be on conditions, to not have contact with one another. One person attempted to hide from police, both were arrested and charged with Failure to comply with the undertaking. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

Assault:

On March 15th, 2025, officers responded to a report of an assault that occurred between three youths in the afternoon hours. It was determined through statements and video evidence that a verbal argument turned violent when two of the youths assaulted the third youth. As a result, a 14-year-old youth from Gananoque and a 14-year-old youth from Oshawa were arrested and charged with Assault. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.

Impaired Driving:

On March 17th, 2025, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically, weaving in the lane. A traffic stop was conducted, and the officer noted strong signs that the driver was intoxicated.

After failing a roadside screening device, the driver was arrested and transported to the station for further testing. As a result of the tests, a 48-year-old person from Elgin was charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and Operation while impaired –blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

They were released on an undertaking with conditions and a mandatory 90-day license suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Refusal to Comply:

On March 21st, 2025, officers on patrol observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted, and while speaking with the driver, open alcohol was observed.

The driver refused the roadside screening device demand, and they were arrested and transported to the station. As a result, the 18-year-old person from Lansdowne was charged with Failure or refusal to comply with a demand.

They were released on an appearance notice and a mandatory 90-day license suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Mischief under $5000 and Failure to Comply:

On March 23rd, 2025, officers responded to a report of a verbal dispute at an apartment unit. Before police arrival, the suspect had left. Officers determined that the suspect had breached their conditions and had thrown urine around the residence.

The 33-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested shortly after and charged with Mischief under $5000 and Failure to comply with an undertaking. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.
