Charges Laid Regarding Intimate Partner Violence

On April 18, 2025, at about 5:30 pm, police received information of an incident that had taken place between a female and her 42-year-old husband in the area of Thomas St. Information disclosed was that a female had been assaulted by her husband at their residence.

Officers attended to check on the well-being of anyone involved. There, officers found the female involved in the dispute. Investigation revealed that the female required medical attention, and Paramedics attended and transported her to the Brockville General Hospital. It was learned that the injuries were caused in part by being struck with a frying pan. These injuries can be described as non-life-threatening.

The 42-year-old male was arrested a short time later. He was charged with assault with a weapon and held for a bail hearing.

Impaired Driving

On April 19, 2025, at about 2:00 am, an officer was on general patrol when they went to conduct a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation in the Broad St. and King St. W. area. Once the police vehicle was noticed, the subject vehicle appeared to make attempts to evade police.

They fled quickly, turning down side streets, eventually pulling into a driveway at a residence on Bartholomew St. The vehicle was stopped, and two occupants were identified. There was a male passenger and a 20-year-old female driver. Neither of which had any right to the property on Bartholomew St.

It was believed that the female driver had been consuming alcohol. A breath demand was made, and the sample test resulted in a fail. She was taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing, which confirmed that she was impaired.

The driver’s G2 licence was suspended, the vehicle impounded and charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. She was released with a future court date.

Intimate Partner Violence Investigation Leads to Charges

On April 20, 2025, at about 1:30 am, police received a 911 call regarding a female who had just been assaulted by her 47-year-old boyfriend. She had left the scene for a place of safety in the area of Balmoral Place.

Investigation revealed that the couple were engaged in an argument over their living situation. This argument escalated, resulting in the male subject pushing and pinning the female on the couch as he attempted to take her cell phone. Once the female was able to get away and notify police, the male subject fled.

Later on, April 20, 2025, at about 6:00 pm, the 47-year-old male was located and arrested during a motor vehicle stop, in the area of King St. E. and Ormond St. He was eventually released with conditions and a future court date for the offence of assault.

Disturbance Leads to Charges of Weapon Possession

On April 20, 2025, at about 12:45 pm, police received a 911 call regarding two males being chased by another male who possibly had a knife, in the area of King St. E.

Investigation revealed that the two males being chased were unharmed in the incident. The subject with the weapon was identified to be a 32-year-old, local male who was on probation.

It was also learned that the subject had a baton, not a knife. The subject was placed under arrest as the officers continued the investigation. In the end, the male was released with a future court date after being charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts for failing to comply with probation.
