Brockville/Kingston – Tee it up for a great cause! Mark your calendars for the 5th Annual Gord Brown Memorial Golf Tournament happening Thursday, August 14th, 2025, at the stunning Smuggler’s Glen Golf Course in Lansdowne, right in the heart of the beautiful Thousand Islands.
This much-anticipated event honours the legacy of the late MP Gord Brown and his dedication to helping those most in need across our region. It’s more than just a day on the green—it’s a chance to make a meaningful difference.
Proceeds support local programs delivered by the YMCA of Eastern Ontario and funded by United Way Leeds & Grenville, all focused on strengthening our communities and inspiring the future by unlocking potential in kids, families, and individuals alike.
“United Way Leeds & Grenville, alongside the Brown family and the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, are deeply honoured to continue MP Gord Brown’s charitable vision of helping those in need within our community,” said Hailie Jack, Executive Director of UWLG. “Gord’s unwavering commitment to bringing hope to Leeds and Grenville continues to inspire us all. The funds raised from this tournament will support the vital social services and community programs provided by the YMCA and UWLG. This event, a highly anticipated gathering, is a testament to Gord’s vision and the power of collective action. You can expect a memorable day of golf, delicious food, VIPs, and most importantly, a shared commitment to honouring Gord’s legacy. As we embark on a new year, we come together to support local non-profits that are creating real, lasting change in our communities. Let’s make this year one where hope continues to grow, and together, we make a difference, just as Gord would have wanted.”
While many in our region are facing increased pressures, supporting the Gord Brown Memorial Golf Tournament, participants are helping to create brighter futures and build stronger, more connected communities for everyone.
“Our sponsors and participants may not always see it, but their support inspires action and creates meaningful change — not just for today, but for the future we’re building together,” said Rob Adams, CEO of the YMCA of Eastern Ontario. “In the past year alone, community support has helped us serve over 30,000 meals — for many, it was their first meal of the day. Our teen drop-in programs welcomed more than 6,700 visits, we provided over 2,000 days of supportive housing, our new Student Impact Program achieved an impressive 90% attendance rate, and one in four members receives financial assistance. These are just a few examples of how the YMCA is helping to shape and inspire a brighter future for all.
This is what happens when a community comes together — we create real, lasting change in people’s lives. We’re especially grateful to the Brown family for allowing us to honour Gord’s legacy by continuing to create opportunities for those who need it most.”
Gord Brown’s family is proud to continue Gord’s legacy of giving back to our wonderful community. Gord’s mission was to ensure that everyone had an opportunity to thrive, and the Brown family continued this philanthropic work. Participating in or sponsoring this event is a way to make this vision possible.
Golfers of all levels can support a worthwhile cause and enjoy a beautiful course, and have the opportunity to golf with a famous sports personality or two. This year’s tournament fees are $900 per foursome, $225 per person. Tournament fees include golf, cart, special tastings/experiences at various holes, golf with some VIP’s, a chance to win fantastic prizes throughout the course, dinner and a live and silent auction. The tournament has a noon shotgun start.
