Augusta – Augusta Township received two generous donations in support of emergency response services. The Augusta Firefighters’ Association presented a cheque for $23,000, in addition to Chevron Construction’s contribution of an additional $5,000 cheque—both donations directed toward purchasing new battery-powered electric jaws of life, included in the Township’s approved 2025 budget. The total cost of the equipment was $57,000.

Deputy Fire Chief Chad Davis acknowledged the significance of the contribution and the dedication of those involved in the community fundraising efforts. “On behalf of the Association, we are very happy to be able to do the fundraising that allows us to give back and donate to the Township to help pay for these new rescue tools,” said Chad. “It is a great step in the right direction in terms of our gear, equipment, and training. We couldn’t raise the funds needed for this kind of support without a very active Association. It is only because of our firefighters that we can achieve this. Thank you to our team and Council.”

The Augusta Firefighters’ Association has raised over $380,000 in the past decade to purchase equipment and support fire services in the Township. These ongoing contributions have significantly enhanced the capabilities of Augusta Fire Rescue, enabling the department to meet the high standard of service expected by Township residents.

Augusta Township Council extended its sincere thanks to the Augusta Firefighters’ Association, Chevron Construction, and all those who support local emergency services through fundraising, donations, and community partnerships.

“I would like to thank Chevron Construction for being a great community partner. This is not the first time Augusta Township has had this partnership,” said Mayor Shaver. “Their support, alongside the ongoing efforts of the Augusta Firefighters’ Association through pancake breakfasts, raffles, and other fundraisers, not only supports responders but also helps our community. On behalf of the Council and the residents of Augusta Township, thank you for going above and beyond.”

Chevron Construction was in attendance, represented by owners Darren Ross and Amanda Hogan, demonstrating a strong commitment to Augusta Township. Mayor Jeff Shaver expressed appreciation for this ongoing support. Chevron Construction has been an industry leader for over 40 years and is recognized for its dedication to community involvement. Their continued support makes a meaningful difference in Augusta Township.
