Brockville – Brockville Police had two incidents that involved Impaired Driving.
Impaired Driver Arrested at a R.I.D.E. Program
On May 20, 2025, at about 1:00 am, officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. program in the area of Stewart Blvd. During that time, a 73-year-old male driver was stopped.
Officers believed that the subject had been consuming alcohol, and a roadside breath sample was taken. The testing device registered a fail.
As a result, the driver was arrested and taken to the Brockville Police Service for further testing. It was confirmed that the driver was operating while over the legal limit.
The subject’s vehicle was impounded, driver’s licence suspended and charged with impaired operation and impaired operation – blood alcohol over 80mg. He was released with a future court date.
Impaired Driver Arrested After Consuming Drugs
On May 21, 2025, at about 3:00 am, police located a vehicle being operated on Perth St. The vehicle was backing out of a fenced-off parking lot in that area. The officer stopped the vehicle and identified a 29-year-old female as the driver.
Investigation revealed that she was exhibiting signs of impairment. Officers believed that the impairment was due to the consumption of drugs.
Due to the exhibited signs, a Standard Field Sobriety Test was conducted, which resulted in the subject performing poorly. The arrest was made, and the subject was search,d which led to the officers locating a quantity of Xanax and LSD tablets.
The subject was taken for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert. Those tests confirmed that the driver was impaired by drugs.
The subject was charged with impaired operation by drugs and two counts of possession of a substance in Schedule I. They were released with a future court date.
