Brockville – Brockville city council has chosen the most cost-effective solution of replacing approximately 400-600 of the interlocking stones in front of the City Hall entrance.
At Tuesday’s council meeting, they heard various options from staff for replacement or repair, ranging from approximately $10,000 to more than $80,000.
The decorative interlocking stone plaza in front of City Hall is showing signs of damage due to weather and general wear and tear.
Public Works crews have done spot repairs of the stones when possible, however, the repairs that will be required moving forward are increasingly more work than spot repairs.
Council opted for the most cost-effective solution of replacing approximately 400-600 of the interlocking stones, extending the life of the plaza for $10,650.00 funded from reserves.
City council also directed staff to report back to the General Committee in September with potential options and approaches to updating King Street infrastructure in the Business Improvement Area, inclusive of surfaces, curbing, lighting and furnishings for consideration in future budgets.
