5th Annual Ride the River: Supporting Colorectal Cancer Care at Brockville General Hospital Being Held This Sunday

Brockville – The 5th annual Ride the River, the community’s premier cycling fundraiser, is taking place this Sunday, June 8, 2025, along the 1000 Islands Parkway.

The event was created in memory of Dr. Smylie, honouring his legacy and long-standing contributions to healthcare at Brockville General Hospital.

Every year, Ride the River brings together riders, supporters, and local champions to make a lasting impact on patient care.

You can still register for this Sunday’s ride at: https://www.ridingtheriver.ca

On June 8, cyclists of all skill levels will ride together along the Parkway, enjoying one of the most scenic routes in our region. The journey will finish at Brown’s Bay, where participants and supporters will gather for a well-earned celebration, featuring great food, refreshing drinks, and exciting prizes.

The Ride the River Planning Committee has set a bold fundraising goal of $300,000, and every dollar raised will go directly toward supporting colorectal cancer care at Brockville General Hospital.

This year, every dollar raised will go directly toward the “Bottoms Up” campaign, supporting colorectal cancer care at the Brockville General. With your support, they will be able to upgrade essential equipment, improve facilities, and ensure that every patient receives the best possible care, right here, close to home.

Since 2021, Ride the River has raised over $3 million, funding critical hospital improvements. This success is made possible by our dedicated riders, generous donors, and community champions who believe in better healthcare for all.
