
Athens – A member of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on routine patrol earlier this year and located and arrested an individual accused of numerous thefts in parts of Leeds County, with that individual now facing more than a dozen charges.
On Saturday, March 29, 2025, shortly after 4:00 p.m., an officer on patrol in Athens spotted a vehicle that had been connected to multiple thefts. The driver was arrested without incident.
31-year-old Jordan COOPER of North Dundas is charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Theft under $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- The driver failed to properly wear a seat belt
- Fail to apply for a permit after becoming the owner
- Use a plate not authorized for the vehicle
- Obstruct plate
- Drive a motor vehicle – no licence
- The driver failed to surrender the licence
- Driving while under suspension
- Fail to surrender a permit for a motor vehicle
- Window obstructed
- No clear view to the rear
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Fail to surrender the insurance card
The accused remains in custody, and a bail hearing is scheduled for June 11, 2025, at the Brockville Ontario Court of Justice.
