That announcement was made on Monday morning at the Memorial Centre by Steve Clark, MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, on behalf of Neil Lumsden, Minister of Sport. On hand for the announcement were Brockville Mayor Matt Wren, along with Councillor Katherine Hobbs and Councillor Louise Severson.
“Ensuring families and people of all ages have access to recreational facilities and programs, like those offered at the Brockville Memorial Civic Centre, is vital to their health and quality of life,” said MPP Clark, “I’m proud that our government is making investments through this program to support municipalities as they ensure our recreation infrastructure is there to host local sports and special events, while generating economic activity, for years to come.”
“At a time when Ontario families are facing rising costs due to tariffs, our government is proud to support organizations focused on delivering better services for people while breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for children and young people,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Sport. “With investments in infrastructure like this, we are protecting Ontario jobs, strengthening our communities, and building a more resilient and self-reliant economy.”
Brockville Mayor Matt Wren said, “We’re grateful to the Province of Ontario for supporting our arena roof replacement through this infrastructure grant. This funding eases the financial burden on our city and allows us to consider redirecting resources toward advancing other aspects of our Multiuse Recreational Facility Project community project. It’s a meaningful investment in both our facilities and our future.”
This investment is part of Ontario’s $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund (CSRIF), a province-wide initiative that helps communities revitalize local facilities, grow the economy and promote active, healthy living across Ontario.
