Brockville – The Brockville Police Service (BPS) has a new patrol vessel courtesy of the RCMP. On Thursday, June 19th, they showed it off to the local media at St. Lawrence Park.

RCMP Inspector Tim Deebel, on behalf of the Ontario RCMP, was on hand on Thursday morning to officially hand over the donated vessel to Brockville Police Chief Mark Noonan.

Before coming to Brockville, the Zodiac Hurricane was a Kingston vessel for the RCMP.

It replaces a 27-year-old vessel that was retired due to engine issues two seasons ago.

There are five trained officers with the Brockville Police Marine Unit, and the vessel will be used for a variety of uses, including patrolling and calls to the city’s islands, vessels in distress, diving accidents, missing persons and enforcing various laws on the water.

Brockville police said that the vessel will enhance BPS’s ability to patrol and protect our beautiful waterways, promoting safety for all who enjoy them.
