Brockville – The Brockville Bunnies travelled to Ottawa on Saturday to play the Watson 15u Elite, coming away with one win and one loss, while on Sunday, the Bunnies lost both games to the Reds Prime at Fulford Park.
In game one on Saturday, the Bunnies won 6-2 over the Watson 15u Elite. Aaron Roy had an outstanding effort in completing the game. He gave up 2 runs in the 1st inning, then shut the door and gave up 1 earned run with 13k’s, but more importantly, just 2 walks.
Ben Buxton had 3 RBIs on a double and a deep moon shot over the right field fence. Wyatt Last tripled while scoring 2 runs and stealing 2 bases. Singles by Levi Biller, Ryan Robinson and Adam Bergman.
In game two, the Bunnies lost 8-6 to Watson, but the Bunnies’ mistakes in the field led to 6 unearned runs, and the bats couldn’t overcome the mistakes. Hunter Sanger with the loss with Last in relief. Zadok Roiger got hot, pounding out 3 doubles. Biller with 2 hits (s,d) with Last doubling and singles by Robinson, Sanger, Buxton and Bergman.
Sunday in CanAm league action, game one saw the Reds 16u Prime beat the Bunnies 3-0. The Bunnies saw the best pitching they have seen all summer and have trouble squaring pitches up. Roiger gets the loss despite being squeezed a bit, giving up only 1 earned run. Biller with 2 shutout innings of relief and Sanger with the only hit.
In game two, the Reds Prime won 14-9 over the Bunnies. In a game that seemed like it would never end, the Bunnies scored 8 runs in the last 2 innings and had the bases loaded to make it interesting before the game finally ended.
Todd with the loss, but a little more help from the defence outcome could have been a little different. Biller, Last, Kellan Sutton and Robinson are all in relief. Roiger, with his team leading the 3rd homerun of the season among his 2 hits. Robinson had 2 hits (2 RBIs) while Todd doubled (2 RBIs). Singles by Last and Biller.
The Brockville Bunnies have some time off before hosting the Montreal Titans on a rare Tuesday double header on Canada Day, with games at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm. The Bunnies’ overall record is now 7-11.
