Bunnies Weekend Results from Floyd Rock Memorial Tournament in Plattsburgh NY

Brockville – At the Floyd Rock Memorial Tournament in Plattsburgh, NY, this past weekend, the first three game scores were unflattering but really just a bad inning or two and the team had a tough time cashing in runners all tournament long.

Game 1 Clinton County 9, Bunnies 2:

Zadok Roiger takes the loss despite only allowing 3 earned runs, and Wyatt Brandwood with two shutout innings in relief. The Bunnies outhit Clinton County 8-7.

Hunter Sanger had two hits, Roiger doubled with singles by Ryan Robinson, Charlie Todd, Ben Buxton, Wyatt Last and Aaron Roy.

Game 2 Diamonds 6 Bunnies 0:

The Diamonds score 5 in the fifth to break open a 1-0 game. Roy with the loss, with Brandwood throwing shutout relief again.

Robinson with two hits, with Todd doubling and a single by Last.

Game 3 Adrean Post 9 Bunnies 4:

Buxton gives up 5 runs in the first, taking the loss with relief from Last and Mark Bowlby. The Bunnies again outhit their opponent 10-7, but clutch hits were hard to come by. Todd with 3 hits (2s,d), Robinson (s, d) and Last with 2 hits each. Singles by Buxton, Roy and Bowlby.

Game 4 Bunnies 5 Ottawa Cardinals 1:

Todd with a strong outing on the mound, going a complete game, allowing no earned runs, giving up four hits with 6 k’s. Todd continued strong hitting as well with a pair of hits (s, d). Last with two more hits with singles by Robinson, Roy and Bowlby.

Game 5 Clinton County 4 Bunnies 3:

By far the most fun game of the season as we put a little scare into the hometown fans. Sanger was outstanding through six innings on the bump before tiring in the seventh. With the Bunnies holding a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the seventh, Sanger walks and hits a batter. Roy comes in and gives up a single to make it 3-2. Another hit batter loads the bases with nobody out, then Buxton makes a strong throw to pick off the runner at third, giving the Bunnies a chance for a double play to get the win.

The next batter rips a ball to left center gap, giving Clinton County the win. A tough spot for Roy after throwing 88 pitches Friday, but I appreciate the willingness to compete. Bowlby with two hits with singles by Sanger, Buxton and Robinson. The Bunnies stole 7 bases in the game, but just couldn’t add on runs. Clinton County goes on to defeat Diamonds in the championship game 4-1.

Very proud of the 11 kids(10 Saturday/Sunday) in the way they competed and handled themselves on and off the diamond. Congrats to Hunter Sanger and Ben Buxton on making the all-tournament team (though I’m not sure how Charlie Todd didn’t make it).

The Bunnies are at home this weekend playing Kingston on Saturday and Whitby on Sunday.
