VIDEO: 23rd Brockville RibFest Held Over Weekend Raising Close to $90,000 for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Leeds & Grenville

Brockville – One of the most popular events in Brockville was held over the past weekend. The 23rd annual Brockville Ribfest, held in Hardy Park, raised around $90,000 in support of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Leeds & Grenville.

“It’s looking like we’re going to land somewhere around the $90,000 mark this year.  We’re very pleased with how the weekend went and so grateful for everyone that came out and supported the event!” said Bev Heuving, Executive Director of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Leeds and Grenville on Wednesday.

Brockville Ribfest is the largest fundraiser for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Leeds & Grenville.

As Canada’s leading child and youth mentoring charity, the funds from the event will help facilitate life-changing relationships that inspire and empower children and youth to reach their potential, both as individuals and citizens. By participating in Brockville Ribfest, you are helping them make a positive difference in the lives of our community’s youth.

There were six ribbers, with Ribs Royale, Silver Bullet BBQ, Billy Bones BBQ, Crabby’s BBQ Shack, Jack the Ribber and Dinosaur Smokehouse.

Friday night was the annual Howard Travel Rib Eating contest, which featured 13 teams competing. The Butcher Shop team came in first with 7 minutes and 30 seconds. Coming in second place was the Newterra Team with 7 minutes and 46 seconds, followed by The Wolfe Pack team with 8 minutes and 22 seconds in third.

The Bar Team raised the most money, and the BOLDT team had the best Team Spirit.

All teams raised a total of $2,850 for Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

Crabby’s BBQ Shack came away from the weekend the winner.

The 4th annual Ribfest Idol was held on Saturday at Brockville Ribfest.

Four finalists were vying to win this year’s Ribfest Idol.

The festival also included live music each day on the Butcher Shop main stage, including Sun Dried Flies, Cadillac Rumble, Sue Prosser and many more. Once again, Healy & Orr was the last act to take to the stage on Sunday.
