Brockville Braves Weekend Exhibition Action

Brockville – In pre-season exhibition play in the CCHL this past weekend, the Brockville Braves lost two games and won one.

On Friday, the Brockville Braves beat the Cornwall Colts 8–4 at the Brockville Memorial Centre. The Braves took control early, scoring three power-play goals in the first period, including two from Peter Legostaev.

Cornwall responded with a goal from Nash Luther, but Brockville continued to build its lead, adding goals from Kaydon Buller and Drury Lamb. The Braves kept the pressure on in the second and third periods, with Legostaev completing a hat trick. Cornwall made a push with goals from Alex Brown, Joe Vida, and Brandon Rockwell, but it was not enough. Brockville went 3-for-6 on the power play.

On Saturday at the Memorial Centre, the Hawkesbury Hawks cruised to a 5-1 victory over the Brockville Braves. After an early goal by Danny Kananga in the first period, Hawkesbury took control with three more goals in the second, including power-play markers from Colten Henderson and A. Feldman. In the third, Jeremy St. Louis added another, and while Hunter Robitaille scored for Brockville late in the game, it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Hawkesbury outshot Brockville 34-27 and went 2-for-2 on the power play, while Brockville struggled on theirs, finishing 0-for-6. Brett Ruddy earned a shutout in net, stopping all 16 shots he faced.

In Pembroke on Sunday, the Brockville Braves lost a 6-1 decision to the Lumber Kings. Pembroke controlled the play through all three periods. The Lumber Kings struck first in the opening frame and then unleashed a barrage of goals in the second, including a fast pairing, power plays, and strong forward pressure. They added their sixth just 38 seconds into the third, before Brockville managed a lone late goal. Pembroke outshot Brockville significantly, applied consistent physicality, and stifled opposing power plays, cementing a convincing win in front of their home crowd.

The Braves will host the Carleton Place Canadians in their season home opener this Friday night at the Memorial Centre. Game time is 7:30 pm.
