VIDEO: 45th Terry Fox Run Held in Brockville & Across Leeds & Grenville on Sunday

Brockville – The 45th Terry Fox Run was held across Leeds & Grenville, including the Brockville run on Sunday, which raised $10,000 this year.

The Brockville Terry Fox Run was held at the Thousand Islands Secondary School (TISS) track, starting with the ceremonial walk around the TISS track piped out by piper Gord Cramb before heading out for the 5K run/walk. This year’s theme was ‘Finish It’.

The five-kilometre route was along Parkedale Avenue to the Brock Trail across from the police station, where participants then headed north to Laurier Boulevard, then west to Windsor Drive and back to TISS.

Long-time organizer of the Brockville Terry Fox Run, Ted Raby, said that close to 40 people were participating in Sunday’s run/walk that started out at 1:00 pm.
With more people participating online and running/walking when they can.

In the 45 years since Terry Fox dipped his artificial leg in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast in St. John’s, N.L., and ran the equivalent of a marathon (26 miles) a day, over $900 million has been raised by Terry Fox Run participants.

Locally, the Brockville Terry Fox Run has raised half a million dollars since 1981.
