Brockville – The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville share their deep sadness with the unexpected news of the INVISTA – Maitland plant closure announcement. The direct impact will be felt by families throughout the region, along with local businesses that directly and indirectly support the plant.
“This is a time to empathize with and support the staff at INVISTA – Maitland plant as they come to terms with this news,” said Warden Corinna Smith-Gatcke of the United Counties. “They are valued members of our community, and together we will support their transition to future opportunities.”
The Counties’ Economic Development team are already working with INVISTA to ensure
local resources are available to support staff in the next six plus months. In addition, other local contractor firms impacted by this closure are encouraged to connect with the Counties’ Economic Development Office at econdev@uclg.on.ca as they assess the regional impact of the closure.
Since 1953, INVISTA has been part of the regional chemistry cluster of businesses in Leeds-Grenville. Building on the strength of this highly skilled workforce, the Counties’ Economic Development and associated organizations will be working to attract businesses to a fully serviced site for future operations.
