Ottawa – Braves attempted a big comeback after a narrow loss on Friday ( 2-1 to the Hawks), but a late tying goal by Ottawa led to a shootout loss.
Another strong performance by the Braves failed to convert to the two (2) points. The Braves’ high-octane offence started strong with two markers in the first period. Recent addition, Jack Lowry (1-1-2)opened the scoring with assists from Zack Naish (0-1-1)and Hunter Robitaille(1-4-5). Before the 1st period ended, Ass’t Captain Ryan McNally (4-7-11)scored his 4th of the year, which kept his 6-game streak alive. The tireless Aiden Carolan (0-4-4) and captain Kayden Buller (3-2-5) drew assists. The Braves outshot Ottawa in that period 10 – 8 with Oliver Li (2.33 – 0.909) looking strong between the Braves’ pipes.
The shots on goal were even at 9 during the 2nd period, with Guillemette (1-2-3) scoring the only goal for Ottawa. The Jr Sens took charge in the 3rd period, outshooting the Braves 10 – 5. Eri Kane (1-1-2)spoiled it for the Braves by scoring the tying goal with a little over 2 minutes left in the game. The Braves failed to take advantage of 3 power plays.
The overtime failed to produce a winner, with a couple of excellent scoring opportunities at each end, but the goalies stood their ground. The shootout was settled quickly. Jesse Lumsden (2-2-4) scored the lone Brockville goal while Iserhoff and Kenney (1-2-3) bulged the twine for Ottawa.
Once again, the Braves’ offence was disrupted by the absence of Peter Legostaev and Drake Sled due to injuries. Oliver Li picked up the 2nd star for his stellar performance in the nets.
