Brockville — The next phase in building the new Brockville Correctional Centre (BCC) and expanded St. Lawrence Valley Correctional Treatment Centre (SLVCTC) is about to commence with demolition of 10 buildings on the site, Steve Clark, MPP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes, announced today.

The new and expanded facilities will be built on the site, which is currently home to the SLVCTC and Secure Treatment Unit, as well as the Brockville Mental Health Centre, Forensic Treatment Unit, and the former Brockville Psychiatric Hospital buildings.

“I’m pleased this important phase in building the Brockville Correctional Centre and expanding the St. Lawrence Valley Correctional Treatment Centre is happening,” said MPP Clark. “Replacing the 183-year-old Brockville Jail to ensure correctional staff have a modern facility to do their jobs safely is a priority for me. Doubling the size of the jail is also part of our government’s commitment to protect community safety by keeping violent and dangerous offenders off our streets.”

Design work for the new 250-bed BCC and expanding the SLVCTC to 25 women’s beds is also currently underway, with completion targeted for Summer 2026. A request for proposals on the project will be issued in Fall 2026, with construction to begin in June 2027.

MPP Clark added that the site plan approval process with the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley will commence this fall.
