Brockville – Downtown Brockville BIA has announced that Dive Brockville Adventure Centre & Abucs Scuba Charters is the recipient of the 2025 Spirit Award Winner.
The Dive Brockville Adventure Centre is recognized for its outstanding dedication to the Brockville community.
This award celebrates excellence in:
- Community Support: Actively supports local community events, charities, or organizations
- Collaboration: Demonstrates a willingness to work with other businesses and organizations for the betterment of the community
- Promotion of Community Values: Upholds and promotes values that strengthen the community, such as inclusivity, sustainability, and local pride
- Positive Influence: Has a noticeable positive influence on the community’s morale and spirit
A few highlights from their nomination showcased the remarkable depth of their community involvement. Every year, they organize Polar Dips that raise funds for animal rescues such as Sandy Pines and the OSPCA, and this past February, they partnered with Brockville Emergency Services to host a Polar Dip in support of the Special Olympics.
They work closely with Save Ontario Shipwrecks and Thousand Islands Associations to keep waterways safe by placing and removing rock markers and wreck moorings, and they assist with preparations for hydroplane races and Canada Day fireworks.
This year, they enhanced the Aquatarium’s annual Mermaid Event by offering Swim with a Mermaid experiences for local youth, coordinating with local hotels to secure pool space, offering discounts for hotel guests, and allowing hotel staff’s children to participate for free.
Their commitment to Brockville also extends to tourism advocacy through committee work and symposium participation. Their diverse staff reflects a wide range of ages, backgrounds, identities, and experiences, creating a welcoming presence for residents and visitors alike.
Congratulations to Helen Cooper and the Dive Brockville Adventure Centre team on this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for the spirit, collaboration, and pride you bring to our community.
Still to be announced is the Dave Cochrane Award.
You can find out the award winners at the Downtown Brockville BIA’s Mistletoe & Milestones, AGM and Christmas Party, being held on Monday, November 24th, from 6 pm–9 pm.
