
Brockville – The Brockville Police Service (BPS) have arrested a 46-year-old man for passing counterfeit money to pay for a private transaction on Facebook Marketplace.
BPS say that on Friday, November 21, 2025, they received a call in relation to counterfeit cash being used to pay for items in a private sale. The suspect paid for items that were sold on Facebook Marketplace with a counterfeit $50.00 bill.
Police also found out that the man was on bail with various conditions.
Officers located the suspect in the area of King Street West and Victoria Avenue on Monday, November 24, 2025, where he was arrested for the counterfeit currency offence.
Police also said that after the arrest, it was discovered that the man was not abiding by his bail condition to reside at a specific address with their surety.
The man was held for a bail hearing after being charged with uttering counterfeit currency and failing to comply with a release order.
