Maitland – St. James Anglican Church in Maitland is pleased to host another festive and heartwarming Christmas Concert on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.
The concert will take place at the historic church located at 20 Church Street and offers an opportunity for people of all ages to gather, sing, and celebrate the season in a beautiful and welcoming setting.
The hour-long program will feature a joyful mix of well-known carols and seasonal selections, performed on the church’s historic organ as well as its baby grand piano. The featured musician for the afternoon is Sharon Adams, a talented local artist with deep community roots.
Sharon Adams, a resident, is a talented and widely experienced musician who has brought her love of music to audiences across North America, the Caribbean, and Europe. She has performed in churches, concert halls, and even in parades, always sharing her gift with joy and heart. Many will remember Sharon performing blissfully in local parades from a clear-sided trailer pulled by a vintage car.
Sponsored by the former Fawcett Organs of Winchester, the trailer was transformed into a shiny music box on wheels, with Sharon at the keyboard, playing her heart out to cheering crowds all along the route.
After the concert, guests are invited to walk across the street to the Parish Hall at 17 Church Street. Light refreshments will be served, and Santa Claus will make a visit that children and adults will enjoy.
The event is free to attend, and a goodwill offering will be welcomed to support the ongoing ministry and community work of St. James Anglican Church.
This beloved tradition is a perfect way to embrace the spirit of Christmas with family, friends, and neighbours. Everyone is welcome to attend and share in the joy of the season.
Established in 1826, St. James Church has been a fixture of the community for nearly two centuries. The church’s beautiful Georgian meeting-house design, crafted by stonemason John Shepherd, is complemented by a Norman-style wood-capped tower.
Known for its historic charm, St. James features a remarkable stained-glass window by renowned artisan Harry Horwood, depicting Jesus the Good Shepherd. For almost two hundred years, this idyllic church has welcomed generations of worshippers and continues to be a beloved landmark in the area.
