Brockville – Brockville’s Emmett Heyman captured the Ontario Middleweight Kickboxing Championship in a 3-day sudden-death style tournament held in Toronto recently.
The annual event is sanctioned by WAKO Canada. (World Association Kickboxing Organization)
Representing Brockville’s Canadian Black Belt Centers, the 23-year-old received a walkover to the finals due to an injury his opponent sustained in the semi-finals the previous day.
In the finals, Heyman defeated Jad Oklaney of Toronto by referee stoppage after Heyman landed a hard freestyle head kick known as the “Question Mark” kick at the end of round one, causing Oklaney to bleed profusely.
The referee stopped the bout when Oklaney’s corner couldn’t control the bleeding between rounds.
With the provincial title secure, Heyman now qualifies for a shot at the Canadian title, where he will join fellow teammate Kristina “Killer Bee” Mabry as she defends her 2025 title on April 30th to May 3rd in Toronto.
