New Temporary Warming Centre Opens!

Brockville – The City of Brockville is sharing the following update from the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville (UCLG), who are the designated Service Manager for housing and homelessness within the county.
Today, (Friday, January 2, 2026), the UCLG announced the opening of a temporary warming center located at 55 Reynolds Drive, providing overnight support for unhoused individuals during the winter months. The space can accommodate up to 40 individuals per night and offers access to food, potable water, washroom facilities, and more.
More information about the warming centre and available supports can be found here: https://hometowntv12.ca/2026/01/02/united-counties-of-leeds-and-grenville-announces-opening-of-new-warming-centre/
We understand the community’s concerns regarding shelter information following the announcement of the Co-Operative Care Centre’s (CCC) closure. During this time, the UCLG’s immediate priority was securing alternative shelter space and ensuring individuals were informed directly through outreach and on-the-ground support. While early public updates were limited, this does not reflect a lack of action or support. Supports were, and continue to be, actively coordinated to ensure continuity of care for those affected.
On December 31 and January 1, the UCLG served 24 and 27 individuals, respectively, through temporary accommodation at a local hotel. Of those supported, 14 individuals had previously been accessing services through the CCC.
We appreciate residents’ patience and encourage those seeking the most up-to-date information on emergency shelter services to follow updates directly from the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville.
