Brockville – Dive Brockville Adventure Centre & Abucs Scuba Charters held its 2026 Polar Bear Dip on Thursday, New Year’s Day at Centeen Park.
With a temperature around -14 C as the high, close to 25 people braved the cold to take the plunge in support of Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre, raising $815 for the centre.
“It was a cold but successful 2026 Polar Bear Dip, but despite the ice and snow, we managed to raise $815 for Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre,” said Helen Cooper, owner of Dive Brockville Adventure Centre & Abucs Scuba Charters on her Facebook profile.
“I was a little short staffed yesterday (ok it was just me!!) but a huge shout out to the morning swimmers and Marcio for helping to clear the snow and ice at Centeen Park, Brianna Pauzé for helping to cover the shop for me to run down to the park to make sure all was safe to go, to Stephen Hatch for taking video of the whole event and most of all to Marcio for being our in-water safety diver for the event,” said Cooper.
Adventure Centre & Abucs Scuba Charters served chilli and hot chocolate after the plunge.
