Kemptville 73s Won One & Lost One Over the Weekend in CCHL Action

Kemptville – The Kemptville 73s won one game and lost one game over this past weekend in CCHL action.

On Friday night, the 73s were blanked 3-0 by the Ottawa Junior Senators, while on Sunday, Kemptville won an 8-3 decision over the Navan Grads.

Friday – Ottawa 3, Kemptville 0:

The Ottawa Jr. Senators shut out the Kemptville 73’s 3–0 at the North Grenville Municipal Centre on Friday night. Ottawa struck first when Williamson scored his first with the team early in the first period.

Rice added a second in the second, and Campbell capped the scoring with a power-play goal in the third. Ottawa outshot Kemptville 34–27, with goalie Morvan making all 27 saves for the shutout. Donovan turned aside 31 shots in a losing effort for Kemptville.

Sunday – Kemptville 8, Navan 3:

The Kemptville 73’s earned an 8–3 road win over the Navan Grads on Sunday afternoon at the Navan Memorial Centre.

After Johnson opened the scoring for Navan on the power play, Kemptville responded with goals from Ouellette and Venance in the first, then broke the game open with four second-period goals by St. James, Mbarushimana, Nichols, and Sweetapple. Hennessy and Achim added third-period tallies.

Kemptville outshot Navan 31–28. Carswell made 25 saves on 28 shots, while Blais and Flemming combined for 23 saves on 31 shots for Navan.

The 73s travel to Ottawa on Wednesday evening to face the Junior Senators, starting at 7:30 pm at the Jim Durrell Sports Complex.
