Brockville – The Brockville Police Service has been awarded funding for one-year (2025-26) under the Community Safety and Policing Grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General, funding a Community Outreach Worker through Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health (LLGAMH).

This partnership will help connect individuals involved with the police who face mental health and addiction challenges to appropriate community support.

“The Brockville Police Service has enjoyed a longstanding partnership with LLGAMH in supporting outreach work,” Chief Mark Noonan, Brockville Police Services. “The latest cycle of the Community Safety and Policing Grant ensures our joint outreach team can continue to support those in our community facing complex challenges.”

A partnership between Brockville Police Services and LLGAMH, the Community Outreach Program is an innovative, evidence-informed program providing supports for individuals experiencing poverty and mental health and/or addiction challenges, and who are at risk of further interaction with police.

The program involves:

  • Identification – The Brockville Police identify individuals who are eligible for the program.
  • Outreach – Police and the Community Outreach Worker visit the individual to discuss the program and conduct an initial needs assessment.
  • Connection to services – The Community Outreach Worker discusses service options with the individual. The referral decision is made by the individual and executed by the Community Outreach Worker.

LLGAMH hired Darla David as the Community Outreach Worker for the Community Outreach Program in Brockville. Darla holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Mental Wellness and Addictions Worker Diploma, and brings extensive outreach experience supporting clients experiencing homelessness and concurrent disorders.

“LLGAMH is very pleased to continue our valuable partnership with the Brockville Police Services that benefits the health of our community,” said Jordan Blanchard, Clinical Manager, LLGAMH. “With Darla’s background, the Community Outreach Program is well-positioned to be responsive to clients’ needs and provide them with timely access to mental health and addictions support they need.”
