
Lansdowne – Highway 401 Eastbound between Lansdowne and Mallorytown has reopened after a multi-vehicle collision that happened on Thursday, January 15.
OPP reported that around noon on Thursday, they, along withthe Leeds & Thousand Islands Fire department, responded to the multi-vehicle collision involving around 25 vehicles on the eastbound lanes of the 401 between Reynolds Road and Maitland.
OPP officers from Leeds, Grenville and Frontenac, along with fire and Leeds-Grenville Paramedics, were all on the scene yesterday assisting.
Leeds OPP asked motorists stuck in the backlog to remain in their vehicles and follow directions on scene. Once the collisions were addressed, officers worked to clear the remaining traffic. The closure lasted until around 11:30 pm last night.

Around 1:45 pm, OPP reported another secondary collision had occurred on Highway 401 eastbound between Lansdowne and Mallorytown. Potentially serious injuries were reported.
Police also reported that one child had been transported to the hospital with serious injuries, with many other people suffering minor injuries; some of them also went to the hospital.
OPP said officers had finished clearing a backlog of vehicles at Reynolds Road around 2:45 pm and continued to clear other vehicles from the area, which were not involved in the collisions.
Due to the winter storm, by the afternoon on Thursday, OPP had been called to 60 collisions across eastern Ontario as driving snow blanketed roads and reduced visibility. OPP East said that nearly 200 collisions occurred on OPP-patrolled roads in eastern Ontario on Thursday.
