Brockville – The City of Brockville is seeking feedback from residents and stakeholders regarding proposed traffic configuration options for Bartholomew Street between James Street East and King Street.
As part of upcoming infrastructure improvements planned for 2026, the City must review the future layout of the street to ensure it meets current standards for sidewalks, vehicle lanes, and safety. Two potential traffic configuration options are being considered.
Current Street Configuration:
Bartholomew Street between James Street East and King Street currently includes:
- Two-way vehicle traffic
- On-street parking
- Sidewalks on both sides of the street
- Utility poles located within the roadway
The current road width is approximately 6.8 meters, which does not meet modern standards for lane width and pedestrian infrastructure. This makes it difficult for two large vehicles to pass safely.
City staff are considering two potential options for the future traffic configuration.
Option 1 – One-Way Street with Parking:
Bartholomew Street between Pearl Street and King Street would become:
- Southbound one-way traffic
- On-street parking on the east side
Option 2 – Two-Way Street with No Parking:
Bartholomew Street between Pearl Street and King Street would remain:
- Two-way traffic
- No on-street parking
Residents are invited to review the options and share their feedback through the online survey available on the project page here.
Once feedback has been compiled, it will be summarized and presented to General Committee for consideration. City Council will make the final decision on the street configuration.
